SnakeCo Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
SnakeCo is made and published by DGM Technology OÜ, a private limited company registered in Tallinn, Estonia ("we", "us"). For the personal data described in this policy, DGM Technology OÜ is the controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Contact for anything about privacy, support or your purchase: snakeco@flashylearning.app.
2. What stays on your phone
To work, the game saves a few things in the app's private storage on your device:
- your high scores (score and date), your best score, your chosen place and finished challenges;
- your settings: sound, music, voices, surprises, vibration, controls, theme and language;
- a game you paused, so you can continue it later;
- the purchase confirmation described in section 3.
We never receive this information. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data in Android's settings.
Backups. If you have turned on Android's backup for your Google account, Android may include this app data in your own backup, so it comes back on a new phone or after a reinstall. Google stores that backup for you under Google's terms; we cannot read it. The purchase confirmation is also kept with Google's Block Store service, and only when Google stores it end-to-end encrypted, which means nobody but your own devices can read it, including us. You can turn backups off in your phone's settings.
3. Checking your purchase with Google Play (licensing)
SnakeCo is a paid app. About once a day, when you open it, the game asks the Google Play Store app on your
phone whether this Google account owns SnakeCo (Google's "License Verification" service, which needs the
CHECK_LICENSE permission). The game sends only the app's name and version and a random number. Google
Play answers with a message signed by Google that contains: whether the app is licensed, the app's name and version,
a date, and an anonymous ID that Google Play creates for your account and this app (it is not your
name, email or Google account ID, and other apps get a different one).
The game checks Google's signature and keeps the first positive answer on your phone as a purchase confirmation. It is used for one thing only: to recognise that this copy was bought (see "Early buyers" in our Terms of Use). It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
To answer, the Play Store app contacts Google's servers. Google processes that request as part of Google Play, under the Google Privacy Policy. If you are offline nothing happens and the game works normally.
4. Buying SnakeCo on Google Play
You buy SnakeCo from Google Play. Google handles the payment and your payment details; we never see them. Google gives developers limited order information (for example an order number, date, product, price and country) so we can handle payouts, taxes, refunds and support. We use it only for those purposes and keep it as long as accounting and tax law require (in Estonia generally 7 years). Legal basis: performing our contract with you and our legal obligations (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (c)).
5. Crash reports from Google Play
SnakeCo contains no crash reporter or analytics of its own. If you allowed your phone to share usage and diagnostics data with Google, Google Play may show us statistics about the app's stability and technical crash reports (device model, Android version, what went wrong in the code). These do not identify you to us. We use them only to fix problems (legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). You control this setting on your phone.
6. When you write to us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you include (for example a Google Play order number if you ask about your purchase). We use it only to answer you and keep it for up to 2 years after the conversation ends, unless the law requires longer. Our email provider stores these messages on our behalf. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in helping you, or steps you asked for about your purchase (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) and (b)).
7. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Vibration (VIBRATE) | Short vibrations when you eat or crash. You can turn them off in Settings. |
Google Play licensing (CHECK_LICENSE) | To ask Google Play whether this copy was bought (section 3). |
The current version does not have internet, location, camera, microphone, contacts or storage permissions, and it does not use the advertising ID. Links on the About screen (this policy, the Terms and our email) open in your browser or email app.
8. What we don't do
- No account or sign-in, no profile, no analytics, no tracking, no ads, no in-app chat.
- We don't sell or share your personal data, and we don't use it for profiling or automated decisions.
9. Children
SnakeCo is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. The game doesn't ask for, collect or send any personal data, whatever the player's age. If you believe a child has sent us personal data by email, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, ask us to restrict or stop using it, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and receive your data in a portable format. Since the app sends us nothing, in practice this concerns emails you sent us and order information from Google Play. Write to snakeco@flashylearning.app; we answer within one month. Data on your phone you can delete yourself by uninstalling the app or clearing its data.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, www.aki.ee) or the authority where you live.
11. International transfers
Google may process the data described in sections 3–5 outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, under its own safeguards (such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses). See Google's privacy policy for details.
12. If SnakeCo later becomes free with ads
We may in the future offer SnakeCo for free with advertising. The current paid version contains no advertising code at all. This section only applies once a version with ads is released; we will update this policy and its effective date at that time, and the app's Google Play listing will say "Contains ads".
In such a version, for players who don't own an ad-free copy:
- Ads would be served by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). To show and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google's software in the app would collect and process data such as your device's advertising ID, IP address (and the approximate location derived from it), device and app information, and interactions with ads. Google acts under its own terms; see how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) would ask before any personalised ads or ad-related storage. You could refuse; then only limited, non-personalised ads would be shown. You could change your choice at any time under Settings → Privacy options. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), and our legitimate interest in showing non-personalised ads to fund the game.
- You could reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's Google settings.
- The game would need the internet and advertising-ID permissions for this. Ads would never be shown during play, and the ad content would be limited to family-friendly ratings.
- Players who bought SnakeCo while it was paid, and players who buy the "Remove ads" option, would see no ads and no consent form; for them the game would keep working as described in sections 2–11.
13. Changes to this policy
If the app changes what it does with data, we will update this page and its effective date before the new version is released, and the app will link to it from its About screen. Earlier versions are available on request.
